New York jazz pianist Skip WeinstockSkip grew up in Westchester County, New York, and began studying jazz piano at the age of thirteen. His earliest influences include mainstream piano greats Dave Brubeck, Billy Taylor, Red Garland, Ahmad Jamal, and Bill Evans. At the Hartt School of Music, Skip was the pianist in the noted Quinnipiac Jazz Band. As a graduate student at Tufts, Skip had playing stints at Club Casablanca in Cambridge and the Copley Plaza Hotel in Boston, in addition to teaching the Jazz Workshop Class at The Cambridge Center for Adult Education. Since moving to New York City in 1986, Skip has played at many upscale Manhattan restaurants and clubs including: Club Bonafide, Silvana, Mohonk Mountain House, Cornelia Street Cafe, Canastel’s, Cafe 112, Billy’s, Village Green, Sgarlato Cafe, O’Neal’s Cafe, Annie’s, Lawrence Scott, Gilmores at South Street Seaport, and (renowned chef Thomas Keller’s) Rakel. Skip continues to perform at fine restaurants, private parties, corporate events, and weddings. He makes his home in Manhattan and Brewster, New York with his wife and son.
